In November 2004, the Foundation launched its second Workforce Training Program course,
the Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) Program.
This course covers:
- Developing basic computer skills,
- Building effective communication skills,
- Responding positively to workplace changes,
- Meeting employer expectations, and
- Preparing for a successful job search.
This 84-hour course was created to develop and certify basic employment skills of
persons entering the workforce or seeking job advancement.
One unique feature of the Foundation’s Career Readiness Certificate Program
is an instructional component designed to assist students in developing proficiency in job skills addressed
by the WorkKeys® job skill assessment system. This system measures and certifies workers’ real-world job
skills and provides employers with a standardized means of assessing the job readiness of their applicants.
Another of the Foundation’s Career Readiness Certificate Program modules
is the TekAdvantage 1 basic computer competency training. Students successfully completing the CRC
receive two certifications: one awarded by the Foundation for TekAdvantage 1 and a second awarded
by the Commonwealth of Virginia for one of four levels of Work Keys® job-skills proficiency.
This course is offered on an as-needed basis.
